Abstract:

3dimensional laser scanning technology and digital imaging geology catalog system are compared by means of site tests. The effect of the application of 3dimensional laser scanning technology in the acquisition of the geological information of the tunnel faces and sidewalls is obtained. The advantages of 3dimensional laser scanning technology and digital imaging geology catalog system are combined so as to develop new geology catalog system for tunneling. The test results show that the existing 3dimensional laser scanning software cannot acquire the information of geological occurrences automatically; However, the 3dimensional laser scanning technology has potential advantages in automatic occurrence identification, rock strata thickness calculation and prediction of occurrences ahead of the tunnel face when new software is developed in the future and laser attribute analysis technology and point cloud data processing technology are used; The existing digital imaging geology catalog system cannot acquire the geological information automatically, but it is better than 3dimensional laser scanning technology when it is used to acquire the geological information of side walls. 
