Abstract:

The architectural design of Metro stations in downtown area is controlled by several factors, especially by the complicated site environment, which makes the design rather difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to make studies on the architectural design of such stations, so as to enhance the station function and to create a better construction condition for the projects. In this paper, the author studies how to make architectural design of these Metro stations based on the site environment, by absorbing the experience of the predecessors and summarizing the author’s own practice, and by analyzing the relationship between the site environment and the station design. The study shows that the success of the architectural design of these stations mainly depends on whether the relationship between the station and the environment has been correctly handled, the main and effective architectural design method of this kind of stations should be based on the site environment, and that local site environment and regional environment should be selected according to the actual circumstance of the stations. 
