Study of Engineering Adaptability of Multifunctional Service Vehicle (MSV) to TBM Construction Transportation

Abstract:

There are two kinds of transportation modes in TBM construction transportation, i.e. longdistance mucking by continuous belt conveyor and locomotive transportation of construction materials and shortdistance mucking and construction material transportation. In recent years, a few multifunctional service vehicles (MSV) have been used for construction material transportation in some projects. The technical practicability of MSV is analyzed in terms of road adaptability and speed, transportation capacity and application field, space adaptability and control performance; and the economy of MSV is analyzed in terms of equipment allocation and purchasing, circulation materials and installation and operation. The analytical results show that: 1) The MSV should be chosen considering safety factors when the tunnel longitudinal slope angle is large. 2) The locomotive transportation and MSV transportation can both be chosen considering comprehensive cost when the tunnel longitudinal slope angle is small and the transportation distance is about 11 km.The MSV transportation is superior to locomotive transportation when the transportation distance is short; while the locomotive transportation is superior to MSV transportation when transportation distance is long.
