Abstract:
In this paper, the concept of the building information modeling (BIM), the application idea and development trend of parametric modeling in the field of engineering design, and the technical characteristics of parametric modeling are introduced. The reverse design process in which BIM technique now applies does not improve the design efficiency but increases the design workload. It is essentially the assist and supplement of design leading by the current requirement when delivering. It is no more than the feedback of design for the global process. The added value of the model is explored, and the traditional design for tunnel works is combined with the new expression of information models. In order to improve the design efficiency, and solve the problem of standardization within complex projects, a set of method for creating 3D models based on series of parameters is adopted, and the feasibility and necessity of parametric design in the establishment of LOD200 models are verified. These models are evaluated by the constraint of geometric property and nongeometric property so as to make them more applicable according to the context. The results can provide reference for forward collaborative design with high efficiency.
