Design of Super-large Diameter Slurry Shield Used in Shantou Bay Tunnel and Construction Countermeasures for Unfavorable Geology

Abstract: The tunneling of super-large diameter slurry shield in soil-rock-boulder composite strata in sea area is difficult and risky. Hence, a series of targeted designs are carried out for cutterhead and cutter, brushing system, main drive, etc. of slurry shield used in Shantou Bay Tunnel to improve the equipment adaptability, and a series of targeted treatments are carried out for boulder processing, cutter configuration, tunneling parameter control and construction management. Consequently, the cutterhead wear is reduced, the segement up-floating is control, the construction efficiency is improved, the shield safety is guaranteed, and the section with unfavorable geology is rapidly passed through.
