Analysis and Countermeasures for Inverted Arch Diseases in High Geostress Section of Railway Tunnel in Plateau and Cold Region: a Case Study on Muzhailing Tunnel of LanzhouChongqing Railway

Abstract: To solve the influence of inverted arch disease of railway tunnel in plateau and cold region with high insitu stress on the tunnel construction progress and following operation safety, the types and causes of the diseases in Muzhailing tunnel on LanzhouChongqing railway are analyzed in detail. It is concluded that the inverted arch diseases can be divided into three types such as surface cracks, cracking and uplift, and water seepage, and the influencing factors are mainly human and external environmental factors. The analytical results and treatment technologies adopted show following. (1) In the construction stage, the diseases can be foreseen and prevented in advance by strictly controlling the construction technology, strengthening the equipment support and improving the understanding of high ground stress in plateau and cold area. (2) In the disease regulation stage, according to the types and development degrees of disease, measures such as epoxy mortar filling treatment, invert truss reinforcement, base steel tube pile reinforcement, pressure relief holes drilling in the seepage section for grouting reinforcement, ditch optimization to doublecover, and automatic temperature control electric tracing device installation at the entrance, etc.KG-*3, can be adopted to reduce the disease phenomenon or even avoid it.
