Abstract: To improve the adaptability of singleshield TBM in longdistance hard rock formation, two systems are designed to prevent and rectify the roll of singleshield TBM in tunneling. Based on the analysis of the causes and influencing factors of the roll of singleshield TBM, two kinds of shield TBM roll rectifying techniques for singleshield TBM with oneway mucking are proposed, namely, the shield active roll rectifying technology without segment dependence and roll rectifying technology through thrust cylinder deflection. The connection between the two kinds of shield roll rectifying techniques is explained, a mathematical model for shield body attitude control is established, the critical conditions of shield body rolling and the requirements to be met for controlling the shield body attitude are expounded, and the feasibility and effectiveness of controlling the shield body attitude by thrust cylinder deflection is illustrated with an engineering example.
