Abstract:  Currently, the shield tunnel attitude is based mainly on human experience and lacks relevant theoretical analysis. Accordingly, to effectively control the horizontal attitude in shield tunneling, a theoretical analysis model for the mechanical behavior and horizontal attitude of the shield based on a twodimensional shield structure is proposed. A theoretical model for shield horizontal attitude is established by introducing shield behavior into the analysis of the horizontal force balance of the shield, considering the stratum parameters, the jack forces, the soil pressure, and the construction measurement of engineering practices. The theoretical analysis results show the following: (1) The shield attitude control is closely related to the jack pressure and is affected by the soil stiffness and the total thrust. (2) The applicability of the theoretical model is verified by comparing it with the field observed data, and it is confirmed that the theoretical model shows the advantages of simple parameters and easy derivation. (3) Accurate attitude predictions can be achieved, which provides effective theoretical support and a practical basis for shield attitude control.
