Abstract: To realize insitu breaking and renewal of a pipe when a roadheader cutting reinforced concrete pipe, the cutting parameters of the roadheader cutterhead are analyzed. Mechanical and mathematical methods are employed to study the calculation method of cutting torque based on the mechanism of reinforced concrete pipe cutting by gear hobs. Finally, a cutterhead test is designed to systematically investigate the variation laws and influencing factors of the cutting parameters and provide parametric guidance for tunneling control. The following results are obtained: (1) The cutterhead torque has a Boltzmann function relationship with time when the cutterhead is cutting full sections of reinforced concrete pipes. (2) The cutterhead torque increases linearly with an increase in advance speed of the cutterhead, and decreases first and then increases with an increase in the rotation speed of the cutterhead. (3) Based on the cutting parameters of the cutterhead and the cutting specific energy, the penetration degree of 8~12 mm/r is determined as the best penetration degree interval.
