Abstract: Currently, the accuracy of manual driving operations in shield tunneling is unstable and the intelligent control technologies for shield tunneling are not mature. Therefore, to address the problems such as low visualization of traditional operation interfaces, dispersion of key information parameters, and insufficient risk warning and control capabilities, a shield driver assistance system(SDAS) is proposed. Then, the overall system architecture, alarm information superposition and fusion processing, logical design of permission control, and the establishment of the visual system are elaborated in detail. Based on original design of shield, the system is equipped to the shield with different sources through external plug-in method, and real-time analysis, alarm, and decision-making based on current shield construction status are conducted focusing on the control of shield postures and ground surface settlement. The demonstration results of a certain section tunnel in Nanjing metro show that the recommended operations of the SDAS matches the manual operation by more than 60%, and the control quality of shield postures and surface settlement by SDAS is better than that of manual operation. The evaluation and incubation methods for intelligent control algorithm models should be improved, multiple types of new intelligent technologies should be installed on this system platform, and the integrity, reliability, and friendliness of which should be promoted in the future.
