Analysis on Safety Risks in Construction of Zhongyixueyuan Station of Chengdu Metro

Abstract: Zhongyixueyuan station of Chengdu Metro is a “stationbridgecombined” station, which is built by cutandcover method. The types of the safety risks and the countermeasures for the risks are summarized, the feasibility and efficiency of the countermeasures, as well as the risk control concept, are discussed, with the construction of Zhongyixueyuan station of Chengdu Metro as an example, so as to ensure the safety during the construction of the Metro station. The following recommendations are made on the risk control during the construction stage of Metro works: 1) It should be fully understood that the construction of underground works is actually a process to maintain and establish stability. 2) Engineering risks exist in different phases of the project, for which corresponding countermeasures should be taken. In case no countermeasures, or inappropriate countermeasures are taken for risks existing in the previous phases, these risks will evolve into risks of construction phase. 3) The identification and elimination of the risk sources and risk factors is the main content of risk control. 4) The objectivity of risks and the fact that different countermeasures produce different results.
