Shield Tunneling Technologies and PBA Enlarging Method:  A Case Study on Beijing Metro

Abstract:

The layout of Metro station and conventional doubleline tunnel is a difficult problem in complex urban area. In this paper, the largediameter earth pressare balance (EPB) shield tunneling technologies for North Dongfengqiao StationSouth Wangjing Station section on No.14 Line of Beijing Metro and Metro tunnel enlarging construction by using pilebeamarch (PBA) method are presented. The key technologies, the connecting construction sequence between shield section and Metro station and segment disassembling, are emphatically presented. The construction results show that: 1) The largediameter shield tunneling technologies and PBA enlarging method adopted are new, advanced and reliable. 2) The influence of the construction on the surrounding environment can be brought under effective control. 3) The technologies mentioned are worth popularizing.
