Abstract:
Reinforced earth retaining walls are a kind of retaining structures consisting of geosynthetics and filling materials that are constructed for the stabilization of the embankment side slopes. Reinforced earth retaining walls have such features as small land occupation, stable structure and good appearance. However, reinforced earth retaining walls have strict requirements for the filling materials. In normal cases, the filling materials should be homogeneous soils. Phyllite filling materials are difficult to be used as the filling materials for reinforced earth retaining walls. On basis of the construction of No. 16 contract section of HuiHang highway, the author summarizes the construction techniques for the construction of reinforced earth retaining walls in phyllite area, makes checking calculation on the stability of the retaining walls and draws some conclusions.
