Abstract:
Rock burst is a worldwide geological disaster, which is difficult to forecast and control. Due to the extremely deep
cover, rock bursts occur frequently during the construction of Jinping auxiliary tunnel, which has seriously delayed the
construction schedule and jeopardized the safety of the workers and equipment. The types, characteristics, occurring patterns,
occurring conditions and adverse effects of rock bursts in Jinping auxiliary tunnel are studied in detail on basis of the collected
geological data related to rock bursts. In addition, principles and countermeasures to prevent and control rock bursts are proposed
on basis of the rock burst occurring mechanisms and construction requirements. These prevention and control principles and
countermeasures have been applied in the tunnel construction and satisfactory effects have been achieved.
Key words: Jinping auxiliary tunnel, rock burst, type, characteristics, prevention and control
