Abstract:

 This article describes the DOT shieldtunneling construction method applied to the tunnel underneath the Danshui River on the TTY International Airport MRT line. The construction of this tunnel faced many different conditions, such as steep slopes, sharp turns, riverbed scouring, drift wood, land acquisition, drilling through piles,building protection and passenger excavation etc. We offer various solutions to the abovementioned difficulties based on our experiences. We hope to provide useful information for future designers faced with similar conditionshis.
