Study on Mechanical Experiment of A New Type of
Geotechnical Analogue Material

Abstract:

Some types of analogue materials in China and other countries in geotechnical model experiments are presented in this paper. Based on the research on a few geotechnical model experiments in some significant tunnels and underground factory buildings in Chinese western areas, a new type of analogue material is recommended, which is made from the iron mineral powder, the barite powder, the quartz powder and the alcoholic solution with rosin. Some tests such as uniaxial compress test, quasitriaxial shear test and Brazilian test have been made to obtain the mechanical characteristics of the composite material. And the analogue material with different mixture ratios has been successfully used in the model experiment of a branching tunnel. The results of the model experiment show that the new type of analogue material can be used in some geotechnical model experiments.
