Abstract:

Hsuehshan tunnel, 12.9 km long, is a long tunnel. Therefore, the safety requirements must be considered in the lighting design of this tunnel. According to CIE design guideline, how to avoid blackhoe and flick effect is an important issue for long time travels in tunnel. In addition, the brightness of the tunnel portal and the traffic/environment situation in the tunnel should be measured in order to take suitable luminance reasonably and quickly. For the Owner, the design requirements are not only related to the safety and comfort, but also are related to the energy saving. Hence, it is necessary to configure a control system that includes measuring the luminance on tunnel portal, environment condition and any accident event inside the tunnel. Meantime, the purpose of this paper is to develop an application strategy that can meet the safety and energysaving requirements.
