Abstract:

 It is an important and difficult issue of civil engineering works to effectively improve the durability of the concrete and control the cracks of largescale reinforced concrete structures. The article describes the types of the concrete cracks and summarizes the reasons for the concrete cracks in respect of shrinkage cracks, temperature cracks and differential settlement cracks. The article also recommends some measures and methods to control the concrete cracks from the viewpoint of design, materials, construction and maintenance. For the existing concrete cracks, effective treatment measures are taken in accordance with the actual situations, so as to ensure the operation safety of the concrete structures.
