Abstract:

Water gushing, sand inrush and collapse are prone to occur in shield arrival, which is one of the major risks in shield tunneling. Water gushing occurs in the shield arrival in a tunneling project. In order to cope with the gushing water, a shield receiving chamber made of reinforced concrete is built. The shield receiving method mentioned is mainly based on the idea of keeping balance in shield arriving. The shield receiving chamber made of reinforced concrete is closely connected to the tunnel portal and is filled with filling materials to keep the pressure in the chamber equal to the original soil pressure so as to simulate the shield tunneling conditions in the original soil and to ensure the safety during shield arrival.
