Applicability Analysis on and Suggestions for Design Construction  Methods for Surrounding Rocks: A Case Study on DongguanHuizhou  Intercity Railway Tunnel Constructed by Mining Method

Abstract:

The construction procedure, construction method, stability and advantages and disadvantages of different grades of surrounding rocks are analyzed. The analytical results show that the design construction methods of Songshanhu underground tunnel on DongguanHuizhou intercity railway are not so feasible. So some suggestions are proposed as follows: 1) For Grade Ⅵ surrounding rocks, threebench sevenstep method + arch temporary column support method is feasible for No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 surrounding rocks; and threebench sevenstep method is feasible for No. 7 and No. 8 surrounding rocks. 2) For Grade Ⅴ surrounding rocks, temporary invert bench method or top heading and benching method is feasible for No. 2 surrounding rock; and top heading and bench method is feasible for No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 surrounding rocks. 3) For Grade Ⅳ surrounding rocks, top heading and bench method is feasible.
