Abstract:
The development of tunnel and underground works in China in recent two years is summarized as follows: 1) The quantity and total length of railway tunnel, highway tunnel, Metro tunnel and water supply tunnel increase rapidly. 2) Some of the key and difficult tunnels and underground works, i.e. Guanjiao Tunnel on QinghaiTibet Railway, Qilianshan Tunnel on LanzhouXinjiang Highspeed Railway, Muzhailing Tunnel on LanzhouChongqing Railway, Underground Watersealed LPG Cavern in Yantai and Tianping Tunnel on LanzhouGuiyang Highspeed Railway, have been completed; and some, i.e. immersed tunnel of Hong KongZhuhaiMacao Bridge, Songhua River Water Conveyance Tunnel, Hanjiang RiverWeihe River Water Conveyance Tunnel, Yangtze Rivercrossing Tunnel on Sanyang Road in Wuhan, Gaoligongshan Tunnel on DaliRuili Railway, Badaling Underground Station of BeijingZhangjiakou Highspeed Railway, underground watersealed oilstorage cavern in Huizhou, underground watersealed oilstorage cavern in Zhanjiang and underground utility tunnel in Hengqin District in Zhuhai, are under construction. Technologies, i.e. construction technologies for superlong mountaincrossing tunnel, control technologies for large deformation of soft rock tunnel, construction technologies for tunnel with high gas concentration, countermeasures for rockburst and design and application of large crosssection rectangular pipe jacking and shield, and mechanized construction level have reached great achievement. The construction technologies for tunnels and underground works in China are advanced 〖HJ2.1mm〗internationally. New requirements have been proposed by new urbanized construction, new round of Western Development, the Belt and Road, the Sponge City, urban underground utility tunnel, urban rail transit, coordination development of Beijing, Tianjing and Hebei, the Yangtze River Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone. Finally, the author provides the developing directions of tunnels and underground works in China, which are construction technologies for superlong tunnel, control technologies for large deformation of high ground stress and soft rock tunnel, construction technologies for high water stress and large crosssection underwater tunnel, construction technologies for tunnels with high ground temperature and high geothermy, construction technologies for tunnels in sections with high seismic intensity and active tectonic zone, operation, maintaining and management technologies for tunnels and development and application of new materials.
