Interpretation of Technical Specification for Noise Control of Urban Tunnel

Abstract: Due to the characteristics of the semiclosed space in the tunnel and the "horn effect" at the tunnel entrance, the noise problem of the urban tunnel is particularly prominent. Formally implemented on March 1, 2017, the Technical Specification for Noise Control of Urban Tunnel (hereinafter referred to as the Specification) systematically put forward relevant methods of urban tunnel noise control technology, which is used to reduce the impact of noise inside the tunnel on human and vehicles, and noise outside the tunnel on the surrounding environment. The Specification is in line with the background of the rapid development of urban tunnel construction in Jiangsu Province, and provides technical support for improving the sound environment quality of tunnel engineering, creating a comfortable and safe passage environment. To further promote the application of the Specification, the existing problems of noise control in urban tunnels and the reasons for the formulation of the Specification are introduced. Then, the background, purpose, principle, and creation process of the Specification are explained. Finally, the main characteristics and innovations of the Specification are summarized and expounded. A case study is conducted on Yongding road tunnel in Taizhou.
