Abstract:

Shield tunneling technologies and the size, performance and configuration of shield machines are presented in this paper. The manufacturing of shield machines and backup equipments in Taiwan are analyzed. The interrelationship between shield machines and the ground is discussed on basis of the shield design concept. The development trend of shield tunneling technology, the manufacturing of shield machines and backup equipments by ourselves and the developing of our own shield tunneling technology are discussed so as to fulfill the construction of Taiwan Strait Tunnel as early as possible.
