Design of Turnkey Project of Extra-high Voltage Cable Tunnel

Abstract: This project is one of the extrahigh voltage cable ways in Hsinchu area. This cable tunnel constructed with shield machine, about 8 368 m in length, and furnished with 9 shafts as ventilation chambers. The average depth of the shafts is about 24 m. There are 10 loops of double conduits for 6 mdiameter tunnel and 6 loops for 5.6 mdiameter tunnel. The client adopted the turnkey contract and most advantageous tender award. Especially the land acquisition is executed by the contractor and this trial is the first one in Taiwan. Meanwhile, this cable tunnel passes mainly through the sedimentary gravel strata of HuKou table land. It is the longest and largest shield machine excavated tunnel in gravel formation in Taiwan. There are several unique design features such as separation wall for fire proof and optimal usage of the space so as to be cost and energy saving and lessening carbon dioxide release. Underground ventilation shaft design is apt to lessen the impact on landscape and environment. 
