Abstract:

Immersed tube method is a special construction method for underwater tunnel developed in the early 20th century. Its application conditions are rigorous, but its adaptability becomes more and more strong. After the Oresund Strait immersed tunnel from Denmark to Sweden and the immersed tunnel from Busan to Geoje in Korea, HongkongZhuhaiMacao Bridge (HZMB) Immersed Tunnel in China is under construction below the main channel of Lingdingyang of Pearl River Estuary. The engineers are overcoming difficulties in the process of practice, with independent innovation and learning from foreign and domestic technology and construction experience. Some new technologies in terms of geological survey, structural analysis, durability design, tube prefabrication and foundation treatment, etc. are developed on the basis of the project characteristics. This paper tries to discuss and summarize these new technologies.
