Experimental Study of Pressure Characteristics of Elliptical  Crosssection Submerged Floating Tunnel Pipeline under Wave Actions

Abstract:

A twoway sixlane submerged floating tunnel is designed based on the hydrological elements of Qiongzhou Strait; and then the 1∶60 hydraulic physical model experiment is carried out under 9 different working conditions. The pressure variation of the wave face, the wave back face and the upper and lower surface of the submerged floating tunnel structure under different wave heights and wave periods are analyzed. The analytical results of the distribution rules of pressure envelope lines of wave face, wave back face and upper and lower surface of submerged floating tunnel structure at wave peak and wave trough show that the pressure along vertical direction of segment is much higher than that along horizontal direction of segment. The influences of wave period and wave height on pressure peak are comparatively analyzed. The results show that the pressure peak on segment surface increases with the wave height increase; and the pressure peak on segment surface decreases with the wave period increase under same wave height. Multiple local pressure peaks occur to submerged floating tunnel structure in a wave period; and the time of pressure peak increases regularly with wave period increase under same wave height. The study results show that the wave height is one of the main factors of structural stability; and the influence of short period wave on the structural stability and the variation of vertical stress of the structure should be paid attention to.
