Abstract: The section from Aerospace City to East Chang′an Street of Xi′an metro line 15 is set as a long and steep slope section due to terrain, underground pipelines, and transfer nodes. To minimize the adverse impact of long and steep slope on metro line operation, comprehensive comparison and selection are conducted in terms of line station scheme, project implementation conditions, project investment, vehicle performance, rescue and evacuation, etc. It is suggested to adopt the line station scheme with the maximum slope of 31.97‰, which is rare in China. Finally, the traction performance of the train is analyzed from the starting condition, braking condition, and speed adaptability. It is considered that the metro Atype train with 4motor, 2trailer and 6car formation can adapt to the maximum gradient.
