Abstract: It is necessary to study how vibration generates and propagates during shield construction process, so that the harm of vibration to the adjacent buildings can be reduced. Based on the relevant research in China and abroad, the generating sources of vibration, vibration characteristics, and propagation law during shield construction process are analyzed, and insitu monitoring and numerical simulation research for the vibration response of adjacent buildings during shield construction process are discussed. Then the existing vibration isolation and damping measures are summarized from three aspects, namely vibration source control, vibration propagation path control, and vibration object protection. Finally, the shortcomings of the existing research are pointed out, and the suggestions for further research on vibration response and vibration control during shield construction process are proposed. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) The vibration in construction is mainly caused by shield cutter for cutting soil. (2) The properties of soil around the tunnel are the main factor affecting vibration propagation. (3) When the shield travels near the adjacent buildings, measures like reducing shield speed, controlling propulsion force, and cutting torque of the cutter are effective to reduce the impact of tunnel construction vibration.
