Abstract:

As a result of the great importance attached to environmental protection by contractor and the high requirements on environmental protection of owner, an agreement on environmental protection, especially for souse chinensis, is signed shortly after the signing of project contract between the two parties. In terms of the agreement, the produced waste slurry during shield tunneling cannot be discharged into South China Sea. In order to satisfy the terms in the signed environmental protection agreement, shield slurry system is improved and new types slurry and pressure filter are used in headrace tunnel construction of Taishan nuclear power station according to theory study and construction experiences of previous projects. The construction experiences of Taishan headrace tunnel show that rapid tunneling and effective environmental protection can be achieved on the premise of zero waste slurry discharging to South China Sea, by the above improved construction technologies. 
