Abstract:
This paper is regarding the designing outcome for the airport underground construction segment of " Taiwan TaoYuan (TTY, formerly CKS) Airport Link Transit System". Engineering problems such as the protection for the taxiway and methods dealing with the existing anchors are discussed in this paper. It is important to understand the characteristics of subsurface ground conditions such as the size and hardness of boulders and gravels when construction of temporary retaining work and shield tunnel machine operation. Based on the case study, it is shown that even under the circumstances of high water pressure, if the appropriate improved tools and supplementary applicable methods are used, it is not difficult to construct a diaphragm wall or to use shield tunneling machines for underground tunnels. The surface settlement due to construction work can be controlled to minimal.
