Abstract:

On basis of reviewing the geological problems encountered during tunnel construction and the stateoftheart of the geology prediction in tunnel construction, the paper summarizes the different methods of geology prediction in tunnel construction and the features of the methods and analyzes the problems in geology prediction in respect of prediction measures and prediction methods. The paper suggests that geology prediction should be an extension of the informationaided tunnel construction and monitoring and control of the engineering behaviors of the geology body ahead of the tunnel face should be tried by means of the geology prediction technology. The paper also suggests that the impacts of construction activities on the geology body should be considered during geology prediction. The paper recommends that code of practice for geology prediction should be compiled to obtain geology prediction works with the same levels, and geology prediction evaluation system should be established and comprehensive geology prediction consisting of versatile measures and versatile methods should be conducted.
