Abstract:
A largediameter slurry shield has completed its boring of Yunhe tunnel in Hangzhou. Now the slurry shield is to be used for Xiangjiang River Crossing Tunnel in Changsha. Therefore, the slurry shield needs to be refurbished so as to suit for the geological conditions of the new project. In the refurbishment of the slurry shield, 2 main drive motors are added and the arrangement of the cutterhead and cutting tools is optimized. In the paper, the refurbishment of the cutterhead and main drive control system of the slurry shield is presented. The refurbished slurry shield has achieved good results in the construction of the new tunnel, which proves that the refurbishment is feasible and rational.
