Abstract:

In this paper, comparison and contrast is made between the vibration caused by metal expansive agent blasting and that caused by explosive blasting, so as to minimize the influence of the excavation of No. 1 ventilation shaft of Yan’an Road Station of Phase 1 of No. 2 Line of Qingdao Metro on the surrounding buildings and municipal utility lines. The practice shows that, compared to the vibration caused by explosive blasting, the vibration caused by metal expansive agent blasting is easier to be controlled, but the cost of the metal expansive agent blasting is 3.4 times that of the explosive blasting. It is proposed that appropriate blasting methods should be adopted on basis of the specific environment conditions and construction requirements. 
