Application of Glassfiberreinforced Plastics (GFRP) in Diaphragm Wall

Abstract: Concrete iron is replaced by glassfiberreinforced plastics (GFRP) for the framework of retaining structure a certain area at the entrance/exit of shield launching shaft and shield arriving shaft, so as to make full use of shield performance and resource, improve the tunnelling efficiency of the shiled, reduce the damage of the shield cutter and guaranteed the safety of the construction. The characteristics of GFRP, construction and testing principles and application are presented, with Guangxidaxue station on Line 1 of Nanning railway transit as an example. The successful application of GFRP provide the condition for shield crossing and the practice shows that the cost, the shield crossing time and the influence on ground can be reduced by using GERP.
