Innovations and Thinking on Design of Wuhan Optics Valley Square Underground Traffic Complex

Abstract:

The Optics Valley Square traffic complex in Wuhan is located directly below the Optics Valley Square, which is a superlarge underground comprehensive transportation hub integrating rail transit, municipal highway tunnel, slowmoving system and commercial development. The complex is a connection among 5 metro lines and is characterized by complex spatial relationship, high evacuation requirement and difficult design. Hence, countermeasures are put forwards based on the experience of designing largescale underground transportation hubs in China and abroad; and a number of innovative means and methods are adopted to design and plan the complex, especially in terms of space organization, fire control and smoke exhaust, and construction and trial of large underground space environment. Abundant achievements have been made.
