Pregrouting Reinforcement Technology of Open TBM in Soft Stratum

Abstract: Constructing a tunnel with open tunnel boring machine (TBM) in weak and broken strata results in the risks of tunnel collapse and TBM jamming. To realize mechanized advance reinforcement of tunnel surrounding rock, advanced drilling and grouting integrated equipment is developed and supporting technology of advance TBM reinforcement is established for traditional open TBM. Midas is used to analyze the shieldtop stress of open TBM and surrounding rock deformation before and after reinforcement in two characteristic circulation sections in a waterdiversion tunnel in Altay. The reliability of the advance reinforcement technology is analyzed using the measured data. The results show that: (1) the advance reinforcement measures have significant effects, and the shieldtop compressive stress at the same position decreases by 10%~90%; (2) the changing trend of the measured shieldtop compressive stress after reinforcement is consistent with the numerical calculation results, and the numerical difference is within 20%, indicating the high reliability of the calculation results; (3) the application of drilling and grouting integrated machines in advance grouting reinforcement can meet the requirements of rock reinforcement and greatly improve construction efficiency.
